For a more complete and current list of equipment on hand (much of which we'd be happy to part with) see our inventory database.
Currently this page features a large number of Sun 3 parts and Sun 4/260 parts, a complete "Roadrunner" system, and all the cards for a Sun 4/370.
Many of the Sun 3 parts are actually made by "ComputerVision," a company that made Sun 3 clones. There don't seem to have been all that many of these made, but in our experience they were perfectly good machines. We still run one of our 4/670 machines out of a ComputerVision chassis.
The Sun 4/260 parts were used for our main system into a year or so ago. We had lots of spares and spent a lot of time rotating them through the system while trying to figure out why the system was flakey. It turned out to be a bad power supply, and after that the system was quite solid, so we believe that the VME cards are all OK.
The "Roadrunner" was given to us, and was set up for use by one of our staff members, but it was never used. We had to replace the Dallas clock chip, whose battery had run down. It is possible that it needs a new one by now. For info on "roadrunners," see the 386i FAQ.
The 4/370 boards came with a VME chassis we bought. We never really used it, but it booted and run just fine at the time, so the CPU card, at least, works.
Most of this stuff has been sitting around for a while since we last used it, and we don't really have the staff time to do a lot of testing, so we can't warrantee it. However, if it proves non-functional within the first month after you buy it, we'll take it back for a refund.
We haven't gone through and set prices for all this. Make us an offer, or ask us for a price by sending mail to email@example.com. If you are interested in swapping, or if you or your company have some equipment you'd like to donate for a tax deduction, some of the kinds of things we are looking for are listed on our wish list page.
Some of this stuff isn't worth the cost of shipping it anywhere, so it is probably only worth your trouble if you are somewhere near Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Note: Grex is a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers and dedicated to running a public-access conferencing system. We are not in the business of buying and selling Sun parts. If it isn't listed here, we don't have it, and can't get it. Don't ask.
