Conferences on Grex are readable by anybody creating an account on Grex (registered users). This policy enables reading of conferences by people without accounts (non-registered users). This reading will probably take place via web browsers, although this policy covers other means of access too. As always, only registered users can post items and responses. This policy allows unregistered users to read the conferences (but not to post without first creating a Grex account). 1. Conference participants can decide whether they want unregistered users to be able to read the conference, by discussing it in the conference. The decision for each conference is made by its fair witnesses. 2. No items may be linked from those conferences that choose to not allow unregistered reading. Even if this rule is not enforced by the software, fair witnesses should observe this rule. If a fair witness deliberately links items with the intention of thwarting this policy, staff will remove the person's fair witness status and unlink the items. 3. At any time, conferences may switch their status to allow or disallow unregistered readers. This is done by discussion of the participants and a decision by the fair witness, as described in part 1 of this policy. 4. The staff conference is not readable by anybody but the staff, the board, and cfadm (the conference administrator). It is not readable by unregistered users. 5. Fair witnesses have 60 days from the day this proposal passes, to determine the status of each conference. If a fair witness is inactive, or if a conference does not have a fair witness, or if the fair witness fails to select a status, the conference will automatically be readable by unregistered users. ************** VOTE RESULTS: This vote was proposed in Co-op 9, item #27, response #578.
